Welcome to the First Hand Website

‘We want every child in Central Bedfordshire to enjoy their childhood and have the best possible start in life. We want every child to do well in education, make friends and build strong relationships with their family. As young adults, we want every young person to have the knowledge, skills and qualifications that will give them the best chance of success, so that they are prepared to take their full place in society as a healthy, happy, contributing and confident citizen.’

Central Bedfordshire Children and Young People’s Plan Vision

Recent changes have been made to our strategic governance arrangements which mean that we are better placed to support partners in responding to current areas of focus and challenges.

As part of the new arrangements, I am delighted to be chairing the Children’s Leadership Board which provides strategic leadership to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Central Bedfordshire.

Details of the new governance arrangements can be viewed here.

A key piece of work for the Board is to now lead on the development of a new Children and Young People’s Plan for Central Bedfordshire. Work is already underway to consider key areas of focus to improve outcomes for children and young people and I look forward to sharing developments and engagement on the development of this important Plan.

The successes to date are due to the work of the Children’s Trust Board, and the Children’s Leadership Board will continue to work to the Children and Young People’s Plan (March 15 – March 17) until the new Plan is finalised - committed to ensuring the right services are provided at the right time, needs are being met and outcomes improved for all growing up in Central Bedfordshire.

Chair - Children’s Leadership Board
